Elder Ezra Taft Benson visited Thailand in December 1968. Pictured here
with his wife, President & Sister Hardy and all of the missionaries in Thailand. During this visit he asked
to speak with Thailand's King Phumipol Adunyadet. After
many efforts by the missionaries, doors were opened at the last minute to make that request a reality.

Brother Daengchai is baptized in Khon Kaen Thailand February 1970. The font was
a converted fish point in the front yard of the missionaries' residence.

Elder Bruce R. McConkie presided at the groundbreaking for the first chapel
in Thailand near Soi Asoke in Bangkok.

Elder Marion G. Romney took a saw in hand and helped with the construction
of the Asoke chapel.

Except for a few short periods all missionaries in Thailand had to
physically leave the country to renew visas every 70 days. Earliest trips were to Laos. Then trips were
switched to Cambodia until that border closed when Vietnam fell in April 1975. The author is pictured here
at the Cambodia border between Arunyabrathet Thailand and Poi Pet Cambodia.

In November 2005 the Bangkok Stake sponsored a 39th Anniversary
Celebration of Missionary work in Thailand. Elder Gordon
B. Hinckley dedicated Thailand for the preaching of
the gospel on November 2, 1966. Pictured here are
members and friends of the church gathered in Lumpini
Park where Elder Hinckley dedicated Thailand.
