Elder Ezra Taft Benson visited Thailand in December 1968. Pictured here with his wife, President & Sister Hardy and all of the missionaries in Thailand. During this visit he asked to speak with Thailand's King Phumipol Adunyadet. After many efforts by the missionaries, doors were opened at the last minute to make that request a reality.
Brother Daengchai is baptized in Khon Kaen Thailand February 1970. The font was a converted fish point in the front yard of the missionaries' residence.
Elder Bruce R. McConkie presided at the groundbreaking for the first chapel in Thailand near Soi Asoke in Bangkok.
Elder Marion G. Romney took a saw in hand and helped with the construction of the Asoke chapel.
Except for a few short periods all missionaries in Thailand had to physically leave the country to renew visas every 70 days. Earliest trips were to Laos. Then trips were switched to Cambodia until that border closed when Vietnam fell in April 1975. The author is pictured here at the Cambodia border between Arunyabrathet Thailand and Poi Pet Cambodia.
In November 2005 the Bangkok Stake sponsored a 39th Anniversary Celebration of Missionary work in Thailand. Elder Gordon B. Hinckley dedicated Thailand for the preaching of the gospel on November 2, 1966. Pictured here are members and friends of the church gathered in Lumpini Park where Elder Hinckley dedicated Thailand.
